A tribute to George Simcox Sensei
The Northern Virginia Ki Aikido (Merrifield) dojo will be hosting two events to honor the late George Simcox.
The first event, sponsored by the Virginia Ki Society (VKS), is the VKS/Merrifield Anniversary Seminar. The event will be held at the Merrifield dojo from September 22 through September 24. We are excited to have Clarence Chinn Sensei as the guest instructor for the event. Chinn Sensei is a 7th Dan and the chief instructor of the Southern California Ki Society. For more information on the event, please see the registration form (Word Version, PDF Version).
The VKS is a member of the Eastern Ki Federation (EKF).
The second event, sponsored by the Merrifield dojo, will be led by Clyde Takeguchi Sensei on Saturday, November 18th. Takeguchi Sensei is the founder and director of Capital Aikikai and is a seventh degree black belt. Takeguchi Sensei has agreed to teach the November 18th seminar in honor of his friendship with George Simcox Sensei. Takeguchi Sensei and Simcox Sensei started teaching Aikido in the DC area in the mid 1970s and developed a firm respect for each other as a result. More information about the event to follow.
